RRB Group D is the Railway Recruitment Boards' exam for Level 1 posts in Indian Railways, such as Track Maintainer Grade IV, Pointsman, Assistant in departments like Signal and Telecom, Electrical, Mechanical and Works, and Helper. It is one of the largest recruitment drives in India, often with tens of thousands of vacancies in a cycle. Level 1 posts start at a basic pay of Rs 18,000 under the 7th CPC, plus allowances.
The notification is released as a Centralised Employment Notice (CEN), and applications are made online through the RRB portal for the chosen zone.
Eligibility
Education: 10th pass (matriculation), or ITI, or a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) from NCVT, as specified for each post in the notification.
Age: generally 18 to 33 years; the exact upper limit and any one-time relaxation are given in each notification. Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (non-creamy layer), 10 years for PwBD (General), and as per rules for ex-servicemen.
Medical: candidates must meet the medical standard prescribed for the post they choose.
