The Customization Group is hiring a CRM Specialist, AI-first to work remotely from India. This is a hands-on newsletter production seat that also brings AI into the company's lifecycle marketing — smarter segmentation, generated content at scale, and personalisation across 20+ online shops. The AI capability is new to the CRM team, so the person hired shapes how it gets built.

Key details

  • Company: The Customization Group, Bengaluru, Karnataka (thecustomizationgroup.com)
  • Location: Remote (India)
  • Role: CRM Specialist, AI-first — CRM / Lifecycle team, reporting to CRM leadership
  • Schedule: Full-time
  • Experience: Typically 2–4 years in CRM, with hands-on AI use
  • Working hours: Overlap with CET — Riga and Cologne core hours
  • Start date: Flexible, around your notice period

About the role

The employer is direct about why the role exists: AI is the skill the CRM team is light on today. The team runs lifecycle messaging across more than 20 shops, and this seat pairs marketing know-how with practical AI — content generation, predictive segmentation, personalisation and workflow automation — while setting the standard for how the team uses it responsibly, with a human always on the last mile.

About The Customization Group

The Customization Group works in mass customization and print-on-demand e-commerce. By its own account it manufactures up to 2.5 million personalised products daily across production sites in Germany, Poland, the USA and Latvia, reaching customers through 20+ online shops and 1,000+ partner stores.

What you will do

  • Produce newsletters, hands-on. Build and ship regular newsletters end-to-end from day one — a working production seat, not only an AI layer on top
  • Generate content at scale. Use AI to draft and adapt campaign copy across shops, languages and segments, with a human reviewing the last mile
  • Sharpen segmentation. Apply AI and predictive approaches to churn risk, next-best-offer and lifetime value
  • Personalise the message. Build dynamic, AI-assisted personalisation into lifecycle flows
  • Automate the busywork. Turn repetitive CRM tasks into AI-assisted workflows the team can reuse
  • Set the standard. Document prompts, guardrails and what works, so AI use spreads across the team safely

Must have

  • Typically 2–4 years in CRM, lifecycle or email marketing
  • Hands-on, demonstrable experience with agentic AI in a marketing context — content generation, segmentation or automation workflows you have actually built and shipped, not general familiarity with AI tools
  • Comfortable with a CRM/ESP platform (Emarsys, Iterable, Braze, CleverTap or similar)
  • Able to judge AI output critically — knowing when it is good enough and when it is not
  • Working-level English for a globally distributed team

Nice to have

  • Deeper prompt-engineering craft, or a track record standardising AI-assisted workflows for a team
  • Basic data skills (SQL, spreadsheets) for segmentation

Who they are looking for

  • You have already used AI to do real marketing work, not just experimented
  • You like being the person who introduces a new capability to a team
  • You are pragmatic — output that ships beats a clever demo
  • You keep a human in the loop and can explain why

Probably not a fit if

  • You want a mature AI setup to plug into — here you are building it
  • You treat AI output as final without review
  • You would rather run classic campaigns than push into new methods
  • Time-zone overlap with European colleagues does not work for you

What the company offers

  • A competitive monthly salary — the figure is discussed at interview
  • Building an AI capability from the ground up, rather than maintaining a legacy setup
  • A modern AI and CRM stack — internal AI tools plus Emarsys
  • International exposure across globally distributed teams
  • Local benefits: health coverage, paid leave and local perks

How the hiring process works

Four steps, about three weeks, with written feedback at every stage:

  1. Day 1–3, async: short application plus CV, reviewed by Talent and the CRM Lead
  2. Day 4–7, 30 minutes: recruiter call with the Talent team
  3. Day 8–14, 60–90 minutes: conversation with the CRM Lead plus a short task — show how you would use AI to improve one real lifecycle flow
  4. Day 15–21, async: final conversation, then a decision

Before you apply

No cover letter is required. Instead the application asks three short prompts, which you can also bring to the recruiter call:

  1. Describe a marketing task you improved with AI — what changed, what stayed human, and how you checked the output was good
  2. How do you decide when AI output is good enough to ship? Walk through your quality bar, and a time something did not clear it
  3. Where do you see AI genuinely helping in CRM, and where not?

The employer says the application takes about 10 minutes and that they reply within two working days.
