SuperAnnotate, a US-based AI data company, hires subject matter experts worldwide to train and evaluate AI models. The work is fully remote, paid by the hour in US dollars, and is open to candidates in India across many Indian languages as well as technical and professional fields.

What the work involves

You use your own domain knowledge to write, review and evaluate the material that AI models learn from — writing expert answers, checking model output for accuracy, and rating responses in your field or language. It is knowledge work, not data entry: the company states it does not offer general data entry or image tagging that does not require professional-level knowledge.

Pay

Read this before you apply

These terms are not obvious from the company's own homepage, so please read them carefully and decide for yourself:

• This is contract work, not a job. There is no salary, no PF, no ESI, no paid leave and no guarantee of continued work. Income depends entirely on projects being available and on hours you actually work.
• The interview is in English only, whatever language the role is for, and it is recorded on audio and video. Using Google, ChatGPT or notes during it is treated as cheating and leads to disqualification.
• Screen monitoring software is required on tracked projects. The company uses Insightful (formerly Workpuls), a desktop app that records the applications you use, the websites you visit, screenshots and screen recordings, for as long as the timer is running. Mac users must grant screen-recording permission. If you are not comfortable with this, do not apply.
• Idle time is not paid. No keyboard or mouse activity for two minutes or more is generally treated as unpaid.
• You will need a desktop or laptop computer and a stable internet connection. A phone is not enough.

Is it genuine?

Yes. SuperAnnotate was founded in 2019, is headquartered in San Francisco, and has raised about $50 million in Series B funding with participation from NVIDIA, Databricks Ventures and Dell Technologies Capital. Its customers include Databricks, Canva and Motorola Solutions. You should never be asked to pay any registration, training or security deposit fee at any stage. If anyone asks you for money in the name of this company, it is a fraud — do not pay.

A note on their referral scheme

The company runs a referral programme, but its own pages quote conflicting figures — the marketing page mentions 15% and 35% in different places, while its official documentation states 7% of the referred person's weekly earnings. Treat only your signed agreement as final, and do not join expecting a particular percentage.
